Unconventional Ways To Dress Up In Ethnic Wear Kurta with trench coat

2 Quirky Ways To Style Your Ethnic Wear

“If you follow all the rules, you’ll miss all the fun.”

Hey, girls!

In this post, I’ve brought to you two different and new ways in which you can sizzle your ethnic look because wearing Kurta the conventional way is very common. Not that it doesn’t look beautiful the way it is worn but I would love to see your girls dress up uniquely and rocking your outfits. After all, good accessories and clothes only complement the beauty that’s already there, right? ūüėČ So let’s see how you can transform your Desi look into Indo-western:

Look 1: Kurta as a dress

Wearing my bright yellow kurta with a long cardigan and pairing it up with many bohemian accessories, I went for the western look. I kept my hair open and wore a tiny black bindi that adds all the ethnic vibes that my outfit needed. A slim belt is a great option to give shape to your entire outfit. Just the way boots are worn with dresses, I wore mine with this Indo-western outfit. Does this outfit not look amazing, ladies?

Look 2: Kurta with Culottes

The way kurtas are worn with long skirts, I wore mine with these denim culottes. I paired them up with my heeled white shoes that are very much in fashion¬†nowadays. I wore the ethnic accessories from my Instagram store collection (@SimplyGorgeous002). If you love them, feel free to order any. Denim culottes were, for me, the perfect way to add the quirkiness to my ethnic outfit. What’s yours?

8 Ways To Wear A Dress In Winter

8 Ways To Wear A Dress In Winter

“People will stare. Make it worth their while.”

Dear all,

I wish you a very Happy New Year! I hope all of you are having a great time. From the past one month, I have been posting on my Instagram profile about something interesting that I have been working on for my blog. This is the article I have been going nuts about. I know it is difficult to come up with a lot of outfit ideas everyday in winters and we all miss wearing our short dresses and skirts when this season comes. That‚Äôs where the inspiration to do this blog post came from. I have hardly worn this dress in summer and before I knew it, winter was here and I was wondering if I will have to wait for months to wear it again. So I styled these 8 ways to wear this summer dress in winter so that I didn’t have to wait for months to look my fabulous self. Let’s see how I styled my dress in 8 ways:

1: Wearing the dress over a crop top

If you follow fashion trends, you must know about the trend of those slip dresses that are worn over tees¬†that are so much in vogue now. For those of you who don’t wish to spend a lot of money on such dresses, this DIY should do. You can wear your black or stripped summer dress over a plain white crop top and Voila! You have a stylish outfit ready for you! I have paired the dress with black socks in all the looks. You can either wear thigh high stockings, fish net stocking, plain black stocking, woolen stocking or leg warmers with boots if you like. There are a lot of options available to you!

  • White Crop Top (Forever 21)
  • Thin Black Velvet choker from my collection on Spoyl App¬†(Account:¬†Sale Sale Sale)
  • Vintage Turkish Rings (Instagram Account)
  • Black Thigh High Stockings (Amazon.in)
  • Black ling Bag (Bought for Rs 250 from Karol Bagh, Delhi)
  • Heeled Oxford Shoes by Knotty Derby (Jabong)

2. Wearing a warm sweater over the dress

This is the most common way to wear your dress during the winter season. A warm sweater, plain black stockings, a cute sling bag and your oxidized silver accessories is all you need to put together when you want to look fab.

3: Wearing a plain blazer with the dress

Ditch your sweatshirt for this classy black blazer and pair it up with your dress. A blazer with padded shoulder is the best kind of blazer that you must have in your winter collection. This is something that you can even wear to your office and to any outing. I have paired up with dress with a black belt to give more shape to the outfit. Don’t forget to carry your “something blue” like I did to add color to your outfit and look sassy!

4: Wearing the dress with a light sweater & blazer both

Another way to look chic while staying warm; wear a light sweater under the blazer. I decided to wear a red colored sweater because that adds more color to the entire outfit which otherwise would have looked very dull. Try adding more colors to your winter wardrobe other than just black, white and grey.

5: Wearing the dress with a jacket & waist belt

Wear your summer dress with a nice jacket and a waist belt over it to give shape to the outfit. Other than this, you always have the option to accessorize the outfit whichever way you want. I wore a thick black velvet choker with my dress.

6: Layering the dress with two jackets

Another way to wear your dress is by layering. You can pair your dress up with a plain jacket and a leather jacket, both! Why go for one when you can wear both, right?

7: Adding a little color to your outfit

Instead of going for a plain simple black/white jacket, you can go for something bright that catches people’s eye. A yellow colored sweater would be a great choice for that. I am also carrying a tribal print backpack with this outfit. These kind of faux leather backpacks are trending a lot and look very chic when worn with a dress. You can wear a belt under the sweater and tuck the sweater in as well. That’s what I did in this outfit as well. A messy bun is a perfect hairstyle for this kind of back-to-school outfit.

8: Wearing the dress with a shrug & bohemian accessories

Last but not the least is to wear your dress with a shrug, a waist belt and few bohemian accessories. I wore a grey shrug that I bought from Sarojini Nagar but you can wear it with a more colorful shrug and of course, the chic oxidized silver accessories.

3 Ways To Style Your Shirt Dress

The best thing about some apparel is that you can style them in a lot of ways. One such apparel is a shirt dress. So, I recently bought a shirt dress that looked a lot like a shrug but could also be worn as an ethnic wear. It was then when the idea of styling that dress in three ways came to my mind and hence, I decided to come up with this post.

Like that dress, I’m sure you too must have a lot of apparel that you can wear in several ways and use to create different looks. All you need to do is experiment a little. Throw some stuff here, throw some stuff there and then, have a look at everything you have in your classy collection and I’m sure you’ll see how many versatile looks you can create using the clothes that you already own.

So, let’s have a look at all the three looks that I created using my vertically stripped shirt dress:

Look 1: The Casual Chic Girl Look

In this outfit, I wore my shirt dress as a long shrug. To make the look casual yet fashionable, I decided to wear a front criss cross bralette with my black scoop neck crop top, paired up with my Mid-rise Levis jeans. You can wear a bralette as a crop top as well and pair it up with a high-waist jeans. I got my bralette from Amazon. You can order the same online or get it from any flea market like Sarojini Nagar (Delhi) where you can get these for just 200 bucks.

To add a little bling to the outfit, I decided to go with my New Look Monk shoes from koovs and completed the look with a casual silver necklace that is from an online web-store called Zylph. It’s an accessory web-store where you can get chic accessories at affordable prices. The website belongs to my sister and hasn’t gone live yet. So, I’ll upload the link as soon as her website goes live and post about the same on my Instagram handle (@prettylittlevirtuoso).

  • Vintage looking leather strap watch by Sonata (Flipkart)
  • Mid Rise shaping skinny jeans by Levis
  • New Look Single Strap Patent Monk Shoes (Koovs)
  • Vertically Stripped Dress from Funky Store (Kamla Nagar, Delhi)

Look 2: The Traditional Look

In the second look, I wore my shirt dress as a kurta and left the last few buttons open to give the look of a front-slit kurta. I paired it up with my Miss Chase high waist black jeggings and a pair of black flats. To add a little Indian touch to my look, I made a design with my sketch pen eye-liner which looked a lot like a bindi. You can use this hack as well if you plan to wear an ethnic outfit but don’t have Bindis with you.

For accessories, I decided to go with silver bangles, my leather strap Sonata watch and the must-have oxidized silver jhumkas. Jhumkas are the best way bring out the Indian-girl in you. They indeed look very elegant when worn with ethnic wear.

Look 3: The Date Look

Finally wearing this shirt dress as a dress, I created the last look called The Date Look. I wore my skin colored stocking socks with my New Look Blakc Monk shoes, carrying a black sling bag. You can do the same with black stocking socks as well if you have the same kind of shoes and recreate this simple yet stylish look.
