Of Prints & Patterns

Hey, beauties!

I have this habit of going through my old stuff, ditching my new apparels for some time and trying out the out-dated ones in a more modern way. When we were kids, my dad would always get us variety of new clothes and what was hilarious was that he wouldn’t just shop for us but also, for the future us. At that time, we had trunks full of clothes that didn’t fit us, that my sister and I planned to save for our “future” self. Funny, I know! However, it’s a lot like shopping online for yourself and still getting surprised when your order arrives or hiding few bucks in a winter jacket just so you find the same money next winter. A gift for you by you. I’m still fascinated with the idea and yes, I continue to do so even now.

While going through the same collection that I had saved when I was somewhere around the age of 12, I found this gorgeous green long skirt with the pattern you can completely get lost in for a while. I rarely wear skirts because I find them restrictive and difficult to travel in but this one, I couldn’t take off when I tried it.

My childhood memory of trying this skirt when I couldn’t fit into it and dying to grow up just so that I could fit in it is where my inspiration for this post came from. Hence, I decided to create an outfit that is vintage yet bohemian and something you can definitely wear to college.

In the outfit, I’m wearing a see-through knot crop top, white canvas shoes, a gemstone necklace as a waist belt (kamar-bandh), oxidized silver chandbalis and of course, the skirt from the past.

A fashion tip to keep in mind would be if you are not very experimental with your outfits, then pairing the apparel that has a very strong pattern with something plain would be better. In this outfit, I’ve paired my skirt with a plain top. Had I gone for something else which had patterns too, the outfit would have appeared too strong. I like keeping my outfits simple and sticking to just one statement apparel/accessory. Here, that would be my skirt.

Basic-ally Breathtaking

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”

Hello, everyone!

I’m back with another post. I know it’s been really long since I posted anything on the blog because I have been so occupied with a lot of things lately. The last month has been like a roller coaster of events. I hope your year has been eventful too.

This article features two of my basic shirts that I have paired differently, showing how basic apparels can be made breathtaking using the mentioned styling tips.

In the first outfit, I’m wearing a shirt as a shirt dress with my denim jacket, plain black socks and a bohemian necklace as a belt. While wearing a dress that doesn’t fit your body properly or is of a bigger size, don’t hesitate to go for belts.

For those of you girls who are into chunky accessories or have a nice collection of necklaces you feel you never get a chance to wear, this is your chance to be little experimental and show off your accessory collection. I loved how the necklace didn’t look out of place and was easy to carry around and adjust as well.

In the second outfit, I’m wearing a shirt dress with a black belt, socks, boots and denim jacket. I’ve kept the first few buttons open to show my bralette’s design. Feel free to go for lace bralettes, chokers and quotation pendants. This shoot was done in the month of January when the weather was cold, hence the boots with the socks. My intention was to show how, instead of wearing thigh high boots with dresses and shorts on a daily basis which might look little over board, you can go for thigh high or normal length socks with your daily-wear boots or block/platform heels and save the money you’d have otherwise spent on the boots that you’d wear just once or twice in a year. But well, I guess it’s a little late for that fashion tip. 😛

The Rules and fashion tips Of Denim On Denim Trend 2017

The Rules Of Denim On Denim Trend

“The joy of dressing is an art.”

Hello, everyone!

Few years back, had you worn denim on denim and gone out, people would have definitely called you Uday Chopra but not anymore! Here I am with another fashion blog post talking about the all new fashion trends and this one is about the very much in Vogue trend of Denim on Denim (DoD).

Now just because the trend of DoD is back, doesn’t mean there aren’t any basic rules for you to follow. Before you go on to imaging your DoD outfit in mind, let me give you few styling tips and tell you the rules.

Rule 1: While styling your DoD outfit, do not go for denim accessories. That means a big NO for denim belt, denim scarf, denim bag, denim strap watch and everything that’s denim when it comes to accessories.

Rule 2: Definitely go for distressed denim wear. Ripped, Rugged, both? Yes! Yes! Yes!

Rule 3: Add something white in your DoD outfit. Adding a little white or off-white color to your outfit maintains the whole DoD look. White shoes or white tee or anything else that is white and syncs perfectly with the whole outfit will do.

Rule 4: Don’t go overboard with the accessories.Too much is never too good anyway.

Now coming to the Fashion Tips:

Tip 1: Definitely go for patch work denim jackets. It is one of the must haves of 2017 fashion trends.

Tip 2: Wearing either all transparent heels/boots or all white canvas shoes will add the classy or retro look to the whole outfit. Otherwise, nude heels will do too.

And here’s the look that I created. Let’s see how it looks:

Crop Tops & Cardigans: Tips for dressing up for winter

Crop Tops & Cardigans: Tips for dressing up for winter

“Life is too short to wear boring clothes.”

Most girls think that it is difficult to look different and stylish every day during the winter season. It’s because they feel that there are less options available to experiment or because they think that if they decide to go for looking good, they might forget dressing up according to the season. However, that’s not how it is. This article, Crop Tops & Cardigans: Tips for dressing up for winter, is a short guide for all those girls who think winter wardrobe only includes sweatshirts, sweater and jackets.

The best thing that I find when it comes to dressing up for winters is layering. Because it’s cold outside, you can stop worrying about wearing just your sweater or a jacket. I would be happy to wear both. You can leave your hair open, wear accessories without worrying about the fact that they’ll be uncomfortable and there are so many options when it comes to accessorising. It’s not just the scarf but also the option for different types of caps that are available in the market, colourful socks that you can wear with your sandals, suspenders, collar pins, belts, cardigans, denim jackets with patch work and a lot more.

In this outfit, I am wearing a black crop top with a denim skirt that I have paired up with these heeled oxford shoes by Knotty Derby. I have also styled the same outfit in a different way by wearing a caged bralette instead of the crop top, black thigh high socks and carrying a side handbag on which I have tied my black scarf. The pictures of that look have been added at the end of the article.

The aim of these two outfits was to show you the ways in which you can style your winter outfits. You must have a long good looking cardigan that you can wear when it’s not too cold outside. Pair it up with a belt around your waist, a scarf that you can also tie up with your handbag later and comfortable footwear like heeled oxfords or block heeled boots. The point is you can definitely experiment with your winter wardrobe instead of wearing the same sweatshirt or sweaters over and over again. Life is too short to wear boring clothes. So, go find something amazing in your wardrobe that you love and style it in your own way.

In this one, my suspenders are clearly visible (which was not my intention) but it’s an easy way to make sure your outfit looks good without wearing belt, which can make your waist and you height, look short.

Winter Bells

“What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”

Hello, girls!

I hope you all are enjoying your winter break and eagerly looking forward to 2017 like I am. Before I move on to the article, I would like to thank everyone who personally messaged me to appreciate my work and told me how much they love it. Your messages really motivate me to put more efforts in my work.

The idea for this blog post came to me when I was taking out my winter clothes and found this bell sleeves winter over-coat. I wondered only if this kind of apparel could be worn as casual wear, I would have so many more outfits for college and that was when I decided to use this for my next blog post. Since bell sleeves is back in fashion, I thought why not add something similar to my winter wardrobe. I had bought this coat last year from Sarojini Nagar just for 150 bucks and since then, I have only worn it once.

While creating this outfit, I wanted to make sure that I keep it as casual as possible while making sure it still stands out. Instead of wearing this over coat with a dress, I decided to pair it up with my mid-rise Levis jeans. Pairing it up with a simple black scoop neck top would have been too simple so I decided to wear my lace bralette with it. These lace bralettes have also been trending a lot so if you don’t have one, you can find it anywhere online. You can also pair it up with a full mesh top and a jacket. That way, it won’t be too revealing and the outfit would still look very chic.

For accessory, you should definitely wear black O-ring velvet choker (something I had forgotten to wear because I did four outfits in a day and it just slipped out of my mind that I had to wear it with this outfit). I wouldn’t suggest wearing any scarf with it since it’s already a high neck coat but if yours isn’t, feel free to add one to your outfit.

For footwear, I wore simple leather black boots and finished the look with some dark smokey eye make-up.

Wearing Dungaree In Winters

Hello, girls!

We all have those clothes in our summer wardrobe that we absolutely love but cannot wear during winters. You can always wear body warmers with them but they just wouldn’t go. That’s why these winters; I’m going to come up with articles on how you can wear your summer apparel even in winters and save money whole looking stylish. You can look fabulous even on a budget. In this article, I’ll give you few tips on how to wear a dungaree in winters.

In the outfit, I’m wearing a high neck off-white sweater that I bought from Funky Store (Kamla Nagar) under the Dungaree. I decided to go for a high neck not only because it looks very classy but also because, a deep or V-neck sweater wouldn’t be as warm. You can also wear a slim sweater or wear a T-shirt with a Bomber jacket for a better look. I wanted to keep the look very simple and casual and that being the reason, I didn’t add a lot of accessories. I just wore a rose gold bangle that has a quote written on it (You’re my Sun, my moon and all my stars) and that adds a little color and shine to the outfit.

You have to know how to accessorize your outfits in winters because some girls overdo the whole thing when they decide to carry a long scarf with a neck piece, a cap, a watch and then, few bracelets. Now, that’s too much fashion to handle and also, over-dressing. Make sure you don’t do that.

You can also leave one side of the dungaree undone or unbuttoned. That way you won’t have to worry about tucking the sweater inside and looking like you’ve gained extra pounds this holiday season. 😛

For footwear, I wore my white casual shoes that go with absolutely anything in my wardrobe and add that “sporty” touch to the look. This is one of my looks that you can wear to college or any casual outing. The outfit details are mentioned below.

A Retro Story

Hello, all!

Here I am with the article that I have been postponing for so long but not anymore! So, this green top that I had bought from Sarojini Nagar two years ago, was lying under the heap of my clothes and I had never worn it much because it didn’t go well with an of the bottom wear I had back then. However, when I recently put it on, I loved how to colour of the top looked so lively and how well it looked. I even worn it to college and got a lot of compliments which I wasn’t expecting. 😛 These knot-tops were not in fashion at the time when I had bought it but now they surely are. Anyway, so the reason why I decided to publish this post was because of this outfit’s retro vibe. The entire outfit is retro. Hence, the name of the article.

I do hope you like the outfit. All the looks that I create on my blog are affordable and easy to recreate and so is this one. It’s very easy to find a knot crop top and a flared jeans. As far as the accessories go, if you like any of them from my blog posts, feel free to drop me a message on the Spoyl App. All my collection is available there under the username Sale sale sale and I can make stuff available for you if it’s out of stock. Other than that, I hope the details are helpful enough. You can recreate these outfits using your own personal style of course because your personal touch is what makes your outfits unique. 🙂

So, let’s see how the outfit looks.
