A Retro Story

Hello, all!

Here I am with the article that I have been postponing for so long but not anymore! So, this green top that I had bought from Sarojini Nagar two years ago, was lying under the heap of my clothes and I had never worn it much because it didn’t go well with an of the bottom wear I had back then. However, when I recently put it on, I loved how to colour of the top looked so lively and how well it looked. I even worn it to college and got a lot of compliments which I wasn’t expecting. 😛 These knot-tops were not in fashion at the time when I had bought it but now they surely are. Anyway, so the reason why I decided to publish this post was because of this outfit’s retro vibe. The entire outfit is retro. Hence, the name of the article.

I do hope you like the outfit. All the looks that I create on my blog are affordable and easy to recreate and so is this one. It’s very easy to find a knot crop top and a flared jeans. As far as the accessories go, if you like any of them from my blog posts, feel free to drop me a message on the Spoyl App. All my collection is available there under the username Sale sale sale and I can make stuff available for you if it’s out of stock. Other than that, I hope the details are helpful enough. You can recreate these outfits using your own personal style of course because your personal touch is what makes your outfits unique. 🙂

So, let’s see how the outfit looks.

Modern Bohemian

Hello, Girls!

Do you not wish your work outfits were as stylish as your casual and party wear ones? Going to work wearing the same kind of boring formals can get boring. That is why I have brought to you this new “Modern Bohemian” look. With the help of a boho statement necklace and wearing a long formal white short as an overcoat jacket, I have created this look and tried to add a little bohemian look to this formal yet stylish outfit. There’s nothing wrong with wearing a rugged boyfriend jeans to your work place but only if you know how to pair it up. You can also wear a blazer with this same outfit to make it look more professional. Adding a classy watch with your formals is always a good choice.

You can choose to wear heels or wedges with this look. I went for comfort because I feel comfort should come before anything else. I hope you like the look that I have created. Outfit details are mentioned at the end of the article.

Styling Denim Dungaree in 4 Ways

The new trend that is now again in fashion from the 90s is the trend of Denim Dungarees. Denim fabric is everyone’s favourite because it can paired up with almost anything and is the safest option to go for whenever you are planning for an outing and are in no mood to experiment but still want to put up an awesome outfit. The same thing can be said about denim dungarees as well. Girls have not only been wearing denim dungarees with casual tees but bralettes, sports bra, check shirts, plain shirts, tank tops and whatnot. It’s not just about pairing it up with different tops but also about creating different looks using the same apparel so that every time you wear it, it looks entirely different than the last time. This is the best thing about some clothing, you can style them in a variety of ways and still not get bored with them. After all, what is fashion without some experimentation and your personal touch, right?

To share my styling tips while creating outfits and my love for this new trend, I decided to come up with this post about styling denim dungaree in 4 ways using the stuff that I already had in my wardrobe. Let’s check out the outfits below:

Look 1: The One with the very-common stripped top

I have kept this look very casual and funky keeping in mind the wardrobe of every girl. In this outfit, I’m wearing a horizontally stripped top with my Old Navy dungaree, Sonata watch, white shoes and carrying a tribal print backpack that I bought from Sarojini Nagar Market a year ago. These bags can actually carry a lot of stuff and go with all the outfits. Almost everything that I’m wearing is bought from Sarojini Nagar Market and is very affordable. One of the reasons why I’ve started this fashion blog is to show girls that fashion is affordable and it’s not just about wearing expensive branded clothes but knowing how and what to wear to look good.

Outfit Details:

  • Old Navy Denim Dungaree (Bought for Rs. 300 from Sarojini Nagar Market, Delhi)
  • White Shoes(Amazon.in)
  • Sonata Watch (Flipkart)
  • Tribal print backpack (Bought for Rs. 350 from Sarojini Nagar Market, Delhi)
  • Stripped Top (Bought for Rs. 200 from Sarojini Nagar Market, Delhi)

Look 2: The One with the trending bralette

In this look, I’m wearing a front criss-cross bralette, a thick velvet choker and my truffle collection flats with my dungaree. With this outfit, I’m carrying this super classy leather backpack by Dressberry and I’ve finished the look with my Timex watch.

If you are a fashion enthusiast, then you must know about the latest trend of bralettes. These bralettes are available in a lot of designs but the designs that I would suggest you go for while wearing a dungaree is either a front criss-cross design or the cages one. Other designs, like the pyramid bralette, just won’t go with it. The best thing about the criss-cross bralette is that you don’t necessarily have to wear a net or transparent top to flaunt it. You can wear it with any deep neck top or as a top without making it look too much for college.

  • Thick Velet Choker (Spoyl account: Sale Sale Sale)

Look 3: The One with the check shirt

I experimented a little with my casual dungaree and got this outfit. In this one, I’ve worn the same bralette (and you are free to wear either a spaghetti top or sports bra inside instead of the bralette) with my check shirt and the same white shoes from the first look. A loose shirt just wouldn’t go with the dungaree so I suggest you tie a knot and wear it the way I did. This way, you won’t have to worry about tucking your shirt in every once in a while, you’ll get the desired fitting, a chance to flaunt your curves even in a dungaree, and another new look for your runway days. Carry a casual backpack and you’re good to go.

Look 4: The One with the Denim on Denim look

Denim on denim is one of my favourite trends and is very much in fashion now. It looks stylish if you carry it in the right manner. My last look therefore is about how you can rock the denim on denim trend even when you’re wearing dungaree.

In this look, I’m wearing my stripped crop top, a full sleeves denim jacket and truffle collection flats with the same dungaree. For accessories, I’m wearing a beaded tattoo choker, my black round glasses, wired headband around my bun, Timex watch and carrying the same black Dressberry backpack.

If you do not want to wear a jacket made from the denim material, you are free to go for the ones that look exactly like denim but aren’t made from the same fabric. They are the best choice for summer if you want to wear denim without feeling suffocated in your outfit in summers because comfort comes first. Do not go around wearing something in which you aren’t comfortable because that way, you’ll end up feeling conscious about your outfit and the confidence just won’t come.

3 Ways To Style Your Shirt Dress

The best thing about some apparel is that you can style them in a lot of ways. One such apparel is a shirt dress. So, I recently bought a shirt dress that looked a lot like a shrug but could also be worn as an ethnic wear. It was then when the idea of styling that dress in three ways came to my mind and hence, I decided to come up with this post.

Like that dress, I’m sure you too must have a lot of apparel that you can wear in several ways and use to create different looks. All you need to do is experiment a little. Throw some stuff here, throw some stuff there and then, have a look at everything you have in your classy collection and I’m sure you’ll see how many versatile looks you can create using the clothes that you already own.

So, let’s have a look at all the three looks that I created using my vertically stripped shirt dress:

Look 1: The Casual Chic Girl Look

In this outfit, I wore my shirt dress as a long shrug. To make the look casual yet fashionable, I decided to wear a front criss cross bralette with my black scoop neck crop top, paired up with my Mid-rise Levis jeans. You can wear a bralette as a crop top as well and pair it up with a high-waist jeans. I got my bralette from Amazon. You can order the same online or get it from any flea market like Sarojini Nagar (Delhi) where you can get these for just 200 bucks.

To add a little bling to the outfit, I decided to go with my New Look Monk shoes from koovs and completed the look with a casual silver necklace that is from an online web-store called Zylph. It’s an accessory web-store where you can get chic accessories at affordable prices. The website belongs to my sister and hasn’t gone live yet. So, I’ll upload the link as soon as her website goes live and post about the same on my Instagram handle (@prettylittlevirtuoso).

  • Front criss-cross bralette (Amazon.in)
  • Silver necklace (Zylph.in)
  • Vintage looking leather strap watch by Sonata (Flipkart)
  • Mid Rise shaping skinny jeans by Levis
  • New Look Single Strap Patent Monk Shoes (Koovs)
  • Vertically Stripped Dress from Funky Store (Kamla Nagar, Delhi)

Look 2: The Traditional Look

In the second look, I wore my shirt dress as a kurta and left the last few buttons open to give the look of a front-slit kurta. I paired it up with my Miss Chase high waist black jeggings and a pair of black flats. To add a little Indian touch to my look, I made a design with my sketch pen eye-liner which looked a lot like a bindi. You can use this hack as well if you plan to wear an ethnic outfit but don’t have Bindis with you.

For accessories, I decided to go with silver bangles, my leather strap Sonata watch and the must-have oxidized silver jhumkas. Jhumkas are the best way bring out the Indian-girl in you. They indeed look very elegant when worn with ethnic wear.

Look 3: The Date Look

Finally wearing this shirt dress as a dress, I created the last look called The Date Look. I wore my skin colored stocking socks with my New Look Blakc Monk shoes, carrying a black sling bag. You can do the same with black stocking socks as well if you have the same kind of shoes and recreate this simple yet stylish look.

Styling Stripes

Every girl’s love for stripes is eternal, isn’t it? This simple pattern can be effortlessly paired up with absolutely anything we have in our wardrobe but what it cannot be paired up with is more different patterns. The styling mistakes that a lot of girls make these days is pairing up two different patterns that are too much for the eyes and end up looking like a fashion disaster. But I’ll make sure that with my fashion knowledge, all you fashionistas do not make any of these mistakes. And that is where the idea for my this post, Styling Stripes came from.

I wanted to do an article about stripes and palazzo and turn that outfit from the casual wear to a sophisticated outing outfit. That is why I went for this Koovs mesh top which is both classy and affordable. These kinds of striped palazzo pants can be found easily on any online website or offline shopping stores. The same is available in markets like Kamla Nagar and Sarojini Nagar. Do remember that if you want a sophisticated look, do not over-do it with a lot of accessories in case you want something formal.

Coming to the accessories, I wore a pair of statement earrings that are from Style Fiesta. They were gifted to me by a teacher of mine. While styling this outfit, I made sure that I don’t add too many accessories and turn it into a kind of outfit that cannot easily be worn as a casual wear. That is why, for statement accessories, I went for these triangular grey statement earrings that add some bling to my outfit. These kind of triangle earrings are trending a lot these days so you must have a pair in your accessory collection if you love wearing accessories.

If you want a bohemian look, feel free to add any statement necklace with a plain U-shape crop top or wear a choker to look chic and simple. Remember it’s all about how you carry your outfit and make it stylish.

Well, I hope you like this outfit. You can check out the outfit details below.
