The Perfect Jeans For Indian Girls

“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”

Hello, lovelies!

I hope all of you are doing great in life and happy with the way you are.

One thing I always feel about our generation is that it has become obsessed with trying to fit in their clothes rather than buying something that fits them.

We are a mix of all those people who are fitness conscious and health nut; a large percentage of it go for the balancing equation of consuming unhealthy food on a regular basis with the perception that the more they work out, the less guilty they’d feel about their incapability to have a strong will to stop themselves from consuming junk every single day; a combination of weak and strong-willed people who have their couch potato moments once in a while and their glorious workaholics moments as well when it comes to something that we are passionate about and impossible to be distracted from.

Most of us are the ones who never fail to convey our message about how important it is to have flavors in our food, cheese in our lives and chocolate in our desserts. In short, the foodies and then, there are the ones who neither try to work out nor choose healthy food but instead, they try to forcefully fit in the clothes they own for a very long time and more often than not, end up looking uncomfortable in whatever it is that they wear.

All are perfect but the last one. It is good to be surrounded by people who are conscious about the kind of food they are consuming, and have cheat days occasionally, on which you can eat whatever it is you have been craving for. Then, there are those who feel food is the ultimate pleasure in life and they would go on a world trip just to try out the various types of cheese around the world and a large variety of chocolate & wine that this beautiful heel of a unique planet has to offer us.

The problem comes when you encounter people who fit in the last category. When you try to pull off a look that you yourself feel is awfully uncomfortable but you go for it anyway because it’s trending and it’s in Vogue and yet, you continuously fail to find something that fits you well and make you stylish at the same time.

One thing girls need to understand is that fashion is not just about wearing skinny clothes or even very revealing clothes. I know from personal experience that almost all the girls face the issue of finding a perfect jeans for their body type in India because the fitting is just always wrong.

If the jeans fits your thighs perfectly, it will be loose from the waist area. Of it is perfect for your waist, it will be too tight for your thigh. Some are so terribly stitched that your calves start to ache if you wear them too long and the other ones are just too tight from the crotch area.

However, I have recently found a perfect solution to this one hell of a serious issue. With the vintage fashion finding its way back into our lives now, this jeans has been a boon for me since the day I have found it. I have been buying nothing but the exact same type of jeans in different styles but the type remains same.

It is the MOM JEANS.
But what is a mom jeans and how is it different from boyfriend and girlfriend jeans?

According to Pop Sugar, a mom jeans is usually high waist while the boyfriend jeans is loosely fit and a girlfriend jeans is basically just a feminine version of a boyfriend jeans in the sense that it is more fitted, better looking and made from a fabric that is more rugged.

“If you raided your mom’s closet in the ’90s, you most likely came out with a pair of the “mom jeans.” Though the style has a stigma with being unflattering and unfashionable, contemporary brands have brought them back in full force – offering destroyed washes and cropped options. When it comes to the qualities of what makes a mom jeans, the style is usually high waist, making your bum appear longer and flatter, and the zipper area has a relaxed fit.”- Pop Sugar

Why mom jeans is the perfect choice for all the girls?

No matter what your body type is, mom jeans will always and always be loyal to you and your thighs. This pair of jeans is little loose from the thigh and crotch area and the fact that it is usually high waist makes sure you not only look effortlessly stylish but also, slim and tall.

If you have slim thighs, it will still suit you very well. It will be little loose but not too loose and you will always find a size that your body can be extremely comfortable in. Not only this is the easiest pair of bottoms to pair but it is also perfect for any occasion and it never fails to bring out the feminine side of you, which I feel boyfriends jeans does not. It can be worn as a formal wear and as informal wear as well.

I’ll be posting more posts on how you can style your mom jeans soon. Till then, let’s see how it looks in the ways that I styled it.

I wore this top in three different ways to show you that how a loose top can be styled in different ways; as a knot top, as a one shoulder top and as an off-shoulder top.

As a knot top

Bold & Beautiful: Stealing From My Parents’ Wardrobe

“I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.I believe that tomorrow is another day & I believe in miracles.”

Hello, lovelies!

Posting after a month (apologies) and bringing to you something great, something new, something amazing!

Colleges are reopening soon and it is time to style everything that you’ve bought during the break. So, I decided to come up with a series of bohemian/Indo-western/not-so-ordinary outfit ideas that will help you stand out of the crowd when you go out. This is the time to use all your creativity and do that one thing we all never thought we, as adults, would never do and that is- steal from our parents’ wardrobe. Yes, you read it right!

For those short on money to spend on shopping, this could be a life saving blog series. I came up with multiple ways to style everything that I could find in my parents’ wardrobe and that included more than my dad’s loose tees and mom’s dupatta. I will show you how to rock those “old-fashioned” apparels in ways you didn’t think you could. 😉

The first outfit in this series is something I always wanted to wear but couldn’t come up with more ideas to style i.e. my mom’s salwar.

In this outfit, I wore a green salwar with a Broshne top from Stalk Buy Love and a must-have denim jacket. For accessories, I decided to go for these very trendy chandbalis with some beautiful stone work and a sling bag with pom pom strap and beautiful embroirdery work. For footwear, I chose the most basic and most stylish, a pair of white trainers that I recently ordered from Koovs.com.

Basic-ally Breathtaking

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”

Hello, everyone!

I’m back with another post. I know it’s been really long since I posted anything on the blog because I have been so occupied with a lot of things lately. The last month has been like a roller coaster of events. I hope your year has been eventful too.

This article features two of my basic shirts that I have paired differently, showing how basic apparels can be made breathtaking using the mentioned styling tips.

In the first outfit, I’m wearing a shirt as a shirt dress with my denim jacket, plain black socks and a bohemian necklace as a belt. While wearing a dress that doesn’t fit your body properly or is of a bigger size, don’t hesitate to go for belts.

For those of you girls who are into chunky accessories or have a nice collection of necklaces you feel you never get a chance to wear, this is your chance to be little experimental and show off your accessory collection. I loved how the necklace didn’t look out of place and was easy to carry around and adjust as well.

In the second outfit, I’m wearing a shirt dress with a black belt, socks, boots and denim jacket. I’ve kept the first few buttons open to show my bralette’s design. Feel free to go for lace bralettes, chokers and quotation pendants. This shoot was done in the month of January when the weather was cold, hence the boots with the socks. My intention was to show how, instead of wearing thigh high boots with dresses and shorts on a daily basis which might look little over board, you can go for thigh high or normal length socks with your daily-wear boots or block/platform heels and save the money you’d have otherwise spent on the boots that you’d wear just once or twice in a year. But well, I guess it’s a little late for that fashion tip. 😛

I hope you liked the outfit and found the content useful.

The Rules and fashion tips Of Denim On Denim Trend 2017

The Rules Of Denim On Denim Trend

“The joy of dressing is an art.”

Hello, everyone!

Few years back, had you worn denim on denim and gone out, people would have definitely called you Uday Chopra but not anymore! Here I am with another fashion blog post talking about the all new fashion trends and this one is about the very much in Vogue trend of Denim on Denim (DoD).

Now just because the trend of DoD is back, doesn’t mean there aren’t any basic rules for you to follow. Before you go on to imaging your DoD outfit in mind, let me give you few styling tips and tell you the rules.

Rule 1: While styling your DoD outfit, do not go for denim accessories. That means a big NO for denim belt, denim scarf, denim bag, denim strap watch and everything that’s denim when it comes to accessories.

Rule 2: Definitely go for distressed denim wear. Ripped, Rugged, both? Yes! Yes! Yes!

Rule 3: Add something white in your DoD outfit. Adding a little white or off-white color to your outfit maintains the whole DoD look. White shoes or white tee or anything else that is white and syncs perfectly with the whole outfit will do.

Rule 4: Don’t go overboard with the accessories.Too much is never too good anyway.

Now coming to the Fashion Tips:

Tip 1: Definitely go for patch work denim jackets. It is one of the must haves of 2017 fashion trends.

Tip 2: Wearing either all transparent heels/boots or all white canvas shoes will add the classy or retro look to the whole outfit. Otherwise, nude heels will do too.

And here’s the look that I created. Let’s see how it looks:

It’s because I like to add that vintage touch that I decided to go for the Sonata watch and the chic embroidered off-white sweater. I folded the sleeves of the sweater which complemented the denim jacket as well and completed the look with these block heeled black boots.

8 Ways To Wear A Dress In Winter

8 Ways To Wear A Dress In Winter

“People will stare. Make it worth their while.”

Dear all,

I wish you a very Happy New Year! I hope all of you are having a great time. From the past one month, I have been posting on my Instagram profile about something interesting that I have been working on for my blog. This is the article I have been going nuts about. I know it is difficult to come up with a lot of outfit ideas everyday in winters and we all miss wearing our short dresses and skirts when this season comes. That’s where the inspiration to do this blog post came from. I have hardly worn this dress in summer and before I knew it, winter was here and I was wondering if I will have to wait for months to wear it again. So I styled these 8 ways to wear this summer dress in winter so that I didn’t have to wait for months to look my fabulous self. Let’s see how I styled my dress in 8 ways:

1: Wearing the dress over a crop top

If you follow fashion trends, you must know about the trend of those slip dresses that are worn over tees that are so much in vogue now. For those of you who don’t wish to spend a lot of money on such dresses, this DIY should do. You can wear your black or stripped summer dress over a plain white crop top and Voila! You have a stylish outfit ready for you! I have paired the dress with black socks in all the looks. You can either wear thigh high stockings, fish net stocking, plain black stocking, woolen stocking or leg warmers with boots if you like. There are a lot of options available to you!

  • Vintage Turkish Rings (Instagram Account)
  • Black Thigh High Stockings (Amazon.in)
  • Black ling Bag (Bought for Rs 250 from Karol Bagh, Delhi)
  • Heeled Oxford Shoes by Knotty Derby (Jabong)

2. Wearing a warm sweater over the dress

This is the most common way to wear your dress during the winter season. A warm sweater, plain black stockings, a cute sling bag and your oxidized silver accessories is all you need to put together when you want to look fab.

3: Wearing a plain blazer with the dress

Ditch your sweatshirt for this classy black blazer and pair it up with your dress. A blazer with padded shoulder is the best kind of blazer that you must have in your winter collection. This is something that you can even wear to your office and to any outing. I have paired up with dress with a black belt to give more shape to the outfit. Don’t forget to carry your “something blue” like I did to add color to your outfit and look sassy!

4: Wearing the dress with a light sweater & blazer both

Another way to look chic while staying warm; wear a light sweater under the blazer. I decided to wear a red colored sweater because that adds more color to the entire outfit which otherwise would have looked very dull. Try adding more colors to your winter wardrobe other than just black, white and grey.

5: Wearing the dress with a jacket & waist belt

Wear your summer dress with a nice jacket and a waist belt over it to give shape to the outfit. Other than this, you always have the option to accessorize the outfit whichever way you want. I wore a thick black velvet choker with my dress.

6: Layering the dress with two jackets

Another way to wear your dress is by layering. You can pair your dress up with a plain jacket and a leather jacket, both! Why go for one when you can wear both, right?

7: Adding a little color to your outfit

Instead of going for a plain simple black/white jacket, you can go for something bright that catches people’s eye. A yellow colored sweater would be a great choice for that. I am also carrying a tribal print backpack with this outfit. These kind of faux leather backpacks are trending a lot and look very chic when worn with a dress. You can wear a belt under the sweater and tuck the sweater in as well. That’s what I did in this outfit as well. A messy bun is a perfect hairstyle for this kind of back-to-school outfit.

8: Wearing the dress with a shrug & bohemian accessories

Last but not the least is to wear your dress with a shrug, a waist belt and few bohemian accessories. I wore a grey shrug that I bought from Sarojini Nagar but you can wear it with a more colorful shrug and of course, the chic oxidized silver accessories.

A Retro Story

Hello, all!

Here I am with the article that I have been postponing for so long but not anymore! So, this green top that I had bought from Sarojini Nagar two years ago, was lying under the heap of my clothes and I had never worn it much because it didn’t go well with an of the bottom wear I had back then. However, when I recently put it on, I loved how to colour of the top looked so lively and how well it looked. I even worn it to college and got a lot of compliments which I wasn’t expecting. 😛 These knot-tops were not in fashion at the time when I had bought it but now they surely are. Anyway, so the reason why I decided to publish this post was because of this outfit’s retro vibe. The entire outfit is retro. Hence, the name of the article.

I do hope you like the outfit. All the looks that I create on my blog are affordable and easy to recreate and so is this one. It’s very easy to find a knot crop top and a flared jeans. As far as the accessories go, if you like any of them from my blog posts, feel free to drop me a message on the Spoyl App. All my collection is available there under the username Sale sale sale and I can make stuff available for you if it’s out of stock. Other than that, I hope the details are helpful enough. You can recreate these outfits using your own personal style of course because your personal touch is what makes your outfits unique. 🙂

So, let’s see how the outfit looks.

4 Last Minute Indo-Western Diwali Outfits

Hello girls!

I was so busy planning for some amazing blog posts (that I’ll be posting later) and occupied with my college work that I had completely forgotten to do a Diwali blog post. So, I went through my wardrobe and found this really elegant lehenga of my mom that she had bought after her marriage and then, decided to use that for creating different looks. This is a very old lehenga and I have used all that there is in a lehenga to create three unique Indo-Western looks for the last minute ladies and yes, since the shoot was next day, these outfits are actually last minute. I have also used an ethnic long skirt that was lying there in my wardrobe for years and created a bohemian look for those ladies who do not have any lehenga to create a last minute outfit.

Let’s have a look at the outfits:

Look 1: Wear any long skirt with a blazer & create a bohemian look

I don’t wear long skirts a lot. I found it difficult to even pair this skirt up with a top because I’m not into tank tops and that’s what usually girls wear skirts with. A tank top or tee, a scarf that goes with the skirt and flats. But when you are dressing up for some festival, you dress up properly and you DRESS UP! That being the reason why I added a blazer in this look and the chunky bohemian and Turkish jewelry. You should definitely go for a heavy statement necklace if you want to recreate this look and create your own last minute Indo-western Diwali outfit. 😉

01-original0302-straight040508.png07.png

Outfit Details:

  • Bohemian coin necklace from amazon.in
  • Printed Long Skirt
  • Black Blazer by Only
  • Plain Silver bangles bought for Rs 100 from Sarojini Nagar, Delhi
  • Silver Jhumkas for Rs 100 from Sarojini Nagar, Delhi
  • Vintage Turkish Rings from my collection on Spoyl App (Account: Sale Sale Sale)

Look 2: Wearing Lehenga’s dupatta as a saree

For those of you who are very much into experimenting and wearing Ind-western look, this is a last minute outfit that you can definitely go for. Using a dupatta as a saree and draping it around your jeans to make it look like a saree. The dupatta that I used belongs to my mom’s lehenga and what I absolutely love about it is the color and fabric that it is made from. Golden jewelry looks fabulous with maroon color and especially a dark colored saree. One fashion tip that you can go for is: if the dupatta you are using is short in length, you can add two dupattas and drape them around your waist like a saree. I kept the look simple and elegant and added minimal accessories. I wore flared jeans in this outfit but you can surely go for a pair of black jeggings or leggings for a better finish.

Fashion tip: Wear the same outfit with a lace bralette for a more festive look.

Look 3: Add an ethnic over coat or jacket to your Western outfit

The most effortless way to create an Indo-western look is by pairing up your ethnic jacket with a black crop top, jeans and any ethnic footwear. I don’t think I need to mention any ethnic accessories because those cute things are obviously necessary to complete the ethnic look.  In this outfit, I wore my mom’s lehenga’s jacket as an ethnic jacket and to be honest, if it didn’t have the embroidered borders, it would definitely look like a plain trench coat. 😛  But it does qualify as a great last minute Diwali outfit.

Look 4: Wear any lehenga’s blouse as an ethnic crop top

This is my favorite look because of this lehenga’s blouse. The embroidery on it is just beautiful and the best thing about it is the padded shoulders which give it a look of one of those military jackets that have padded shoulders as well. This is neither too much, nor too less for a Diwali outfit. If you have something like this in your or your mom’s wardrobe, then girls, you are all set for Diwali.
